So You Want to be a Kajira...
EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT GOR, BUT DON’T HAVE PERMISSION TO ASK
(A New Submissive’s Guide to Gor) Wise words from the forever first girl of Turia no longer online!
So, you were happily dangling from the rafters in your submission channel, dropping water balloons on unsuspecting visitors. Or, idling away your time tying together Dommie shoelaces, painting their toe nails and hoping to get spanked (oooOOoo), when.. something happened. A Gorean slave visits and is asked to serve. You look up from your "subbie couch" to watch a beautifully crafted, poetic, and living picture of a kajira, joyful in her ability to serve and please a Master. Perhaps your first exposure to Gor was following your Dom or Master to a Gorean channel to "learn" slavery. You stay, or come back repeatedly because what you saw was so alluring and compelling, it touched a part of you that didn't seem to exist, previously. You are shocked to find yourself called, "barbarian." Your playful, adorable antics which won you acclaim and attention in the submission channel are not appreciated here. So, many of you will go away shaking your head, thinking that Gor is an austere, harsh environment. It certainly is. But, if you stay, you will understand what is most pleasing on Gor is your graceful obedience and skilled service. You will realize that subtle wit and intelligence are not only acceptable qualities for a kajira, but highly prized attributes. And, if you persevere, you will find something else. Submissives are fond of reminding us of the "gift of submission". On Gor you will find your submission is taken for granted. A true Gorean Master will not negotiate with you about when, where and how you "give" your submission. There are no "safe words" for slaves. Only then will you discover the true gift, the soul-shaking satisfaction of turning over your will to begin a life of complete deference to a Gorean Master. This girl welcomes you and almost envies those of you who will make it. Training to be a kajira, whether it be by watchful, respectful observation and quiet questioning in an established Gorean tavern or in a classroom "training center", is a journey you will never forget. Since it is so easy to make a faux pas or even, fatal, misstep in those first few weeks, this kajira has compiled a guide to get you through it. It is designed to show you how to proceed with, not only your submissive heart, but with an informed, prudent mind. This is not a complete training document, by any means. Consider this friendly advice from a long time kajira, who is always pleased to find and help those who are truly eager and appropriate for this very special sisterhood.
Gor?
If you set your Browser to this site, you will find on the first page a brief glimpse into the world and philosophies of Gor. Beyond the Gate, the links of the Turian website are packed with information. The source for this site and online Gor is the 25 scrolls written by John Norman. The first several have been reprinted. If you are serious, start your journey there.
Disney Gor and Gor-lite Channels
Some of you will be unfortunate enough to have your first experiences in "gor-lite" or disney Gor channels. These places adopt a gorean "flavor", but carry on much like a chat channel or the submission channel you just left. These channels also harbor a larger percentage of HNG's, trolling for inexperienced slaves. IF this is what appeals to you, you will not need to trouble yourself with the rest of this guide. Anything goes in those places, and they will train you as they see fit. Hopefully, once you have a chance to visit a channel more faithfully gorean, you will prefer it. If not, come and entertain us in Turia occasionally. Turian's are arrogant They love to smirk at earthers. By the way, channels that allow open slave ops, who have the authority to kick/ban without consulting a Freeperson, are automatically considered disney gor by Turian standards.
Basics for Survival Gorean slaves are expected to ask permission for just about everything. And, if you have not already noticed, slaves on Irc Gor speak in third person. Most channels require permission to enter their tavern or inn or keep or camp or realm. Some prefer quite elaborate entrances after permission is given. You must ask permission to be afk (away from the keyboard), and some Masters will give you limits of how long you may be gone. Waiting for permission to exit a channel can be a frustrating experience, but wait, you must! Often, the Masters are distracted and you may need to ask several times before permission is granted. Even though you may feel impatient, do not show it. Remain respectful. Never decide to leave on your own. You may find yourself banned when you try to return. Slaves are forbidden to change their nicks. Woe unto you, if you decide to do so in channel, without a Master's permission. In a later section, we will discuss nick changing in more detail.
Serving: The Easy Part
A lot of non-Goreans are impressed with the prose created by a polished serving kajira. It is definitely an art form. Their moves seem effortless, poised and graceful. The most skilled kajirae commit months to practice and observation.. even stealing other's ideas. Styles and phrases are jealously guarded but are impossible to protect, if they are to be used. You, too, will develop your own style in serving, and you will be amazed to see how it changes over months of honing and refining. To get started, simply enter a channel, kneel on the serving furs and ask politely to observe. Over time, you will see what is considered acceptable for service and demeanor. Soon, you will have sketched out your own serves, and will have learned how to offer service. Every channel has it's own traditions and preferences. Listen and learn, and soon you will be serving like your veteran sisters. Even though these basic aspects, serves, positions, dances, may be what attracted you to Gor in the first place; regardless of how many hours you spend perfecting each phrase; no matter how hard your heart pounds or your palms sweat as you are called upon, these things are the easy part. Learning how to be completely subservient, obedient, pleasing.. no matter howchallenged you are to maintain it.. that's the hard part. Few kajira fail on Gor because they haven't learned to serve properly. All can read the description of a position to post in channel, or write a sexy dance. They fail because their submission does not blossom and develop. They fail because they have not been nurtured or have not been willing to accept the correction and training which will shape them, finally, into kajira.
Correction and Training vs Humiliation
Many of you will find even your most honest efforts laughed at by those Master's who feel that humiliation and scorn are training tools for kajira. There are channels particularly well known for this practice, and it certainly can "shape" a slave in a certain way. It produces a confused, compliant and ignorant slave.. obedient, because she fears any other course. What it does not do is train and inform her. She primarily is encouraged to acknowledge her "belly", i.e. that arousal source that wells up in the loins and belly of a true submissive. This "discovery", which some seem to claim as their own patented training manual, is something *all* submissives feel. That fluttery, pleasant flash of heat is well known to submissive women, and is why they came to submission and Gor in the first place. These channels and their Ops use this well-known phenomenon as the entire basis for their "training". They rely on various elaborations of that theme, period. Their humiliation of her, reinforces her anxiety to be found pleasing, which reinforces her belly, which arouses her.. ho hum. If this is what pleases you, go for it. However, be aware that fires which flare up quickly and brightly.. tend to dim just as rapidly. A slowly fed fire, one that is stoked and provided with the fuel to burn forever, is far more likely to provide lasting benefit. Submission/slavery is more than a "belly flash". It requires input, constant reinforcement, testing and firm correction by a true Dominant. The road from feeling your "belly" to complete, pleasing obedience is not a short one. Think about that when your beating slave heart is ready for more meaningful challenge.
Channel Demeanor
Be silent while you are new. You may be anxious to be noticed and included in the goings on, but in a true gorean channel, your posts and idle comments are unwanted. If you have questions, message a more experienced slave. Most will help you. If you are questioned by a Master, try to keep your answers straightforward. Your bountiful breasts, blushing cheeks, rosy lips and contrived "shyness" will earn you the contempt of your sister slaves and the attention of HNG's. Save your flowery language for serves and positions. A true Master wants open, honest answers, respectfully delivered. If you have a question, ask permission to speak. If you want to speak to a Master in message, ask permission in channel. Once, the query or dcc window is opened, you should add: "Master, may a girl be heard"? Never close a window on your own, even if he has not posted in it for some time. Ask for permission to leave whispers before you close it. Try not to fall into the trap of self-indulgent posting. You are here to learn learn learn! Be patient. You will gain the notice of those who are most Gorean, if you are patient. Try not to post, "mira tosses glistening tresses over a bare shoulder, arching her back as she continues to kneel quietly on the serving furs." Such posts are designed to call attention to you, which is most displeasing and un-slavelike. If you want to be noticed, do something useful. Put some logs on the fire, gather up some used paga bowls and take them to the servery to plunge into some hot, soapy, water. If your activity is related to "irc work", it is more likely to be more acceptable to a Gorean Master.
Channel Behavior
In submission channels, dominance is tested by witty, intelligent women who engage the various Doms and Masters in spirited debate about various topics, "topping" them merrily, as often as possible. Endless philosophizing about dominance, submission, punishment is de rigeur. The women are even more vocal than the men. Questions, emotings, confusions, feelings, misunderstandings are all right out in the open. Accusations and finger pointings from both directions are quite common and accepted. Not so, on Gor. Be silent when Freepersons are speaking. If you think you have something to add, ask, respectfully, to be allowed to speak. Do not be surprised if you are ignored or scorned. If you make a valid, intelligent point, the most you can expect is *Master nods* Do not think you will forever lose your voice. On Gor, you are expected to earn the privilege of using it. Your wit and intelligence will be noticed over time. Then, when you ask to speak, it will be granted more readily. Be patient. Be pleasing. Be silent. There are cliche's on Gor about debate with a Gorean Master: 1) You, the slave, always have the last words. They are, "Yes, Master". 2) A Master may not be right, but, he is never wrong. If you think he is wrong, refer to Rule #1. These two overused maxims illustrate the philosophy of Gorean Mastery. You are property. You have no rights. You speak only when spoken to or when offering service. All permission, even your name, comes from your Master. When a Master has spoken to you, and you believe you "must" be heard, remember this: There is one word you should lose from your subbie vocabulary.. "but " ! The only course is to ask, very respectfully, if you may speak. If he agree's to listen to you, be aware that you have permission for one question. His answer ends that permission. Do not make the mistake of saying, "Yes, Master, but.... ". You will need to ask again to say more, if you dare. If he says no, that's it. No! If you have trouble remembering the above, there is another Gorean maxim which may serve you well. A slave's eyes and ears are for listening and learning.. her mouth is for obedience and pleasuring.
Net Behavior
Quite a few Gorean Masters log on to multiple nets to watch for slaves who violate some of Gor's most basic rules for it's slaves. You may not be in more than one channel at a time. You may not be on more than one net at a time. Once you have identified yourself on Gor with a certain nick, or one has been given to you by a Gorean Freeperson, do not *ever* change it. Keep that in mind, if you are considering covering up mistakes with nick changes, or if you think you can play elsewhere and come to Gor when it suits you. Some channels will allow you to have alternate identities on chat channels, elsewhere online, but many more do not.
Nicks
It takes a little experience to realize the importance of maintaining a true nick. Unfortunately, slave nicks are changed and re-changed by Freepersons. It is their right to do so. It is a lesson for the slave, that even her very name does not belong to her. Unfortunately, online, this practice fosters gaming and deceit. A girl who has had several nick changes, by Gorean whim or tradition, is not given the opportunity to value her own identity. She is held to lower expectations. If she makes a mistake or violates Gorean law, eventually no one remembers what she did, because she did it 4 nicks ago. If you have integrity, you show up with the same nick everyday and own up to missteps and errors. This girl is fortunate to have had the same name for over four years, with the exception of a one month period when her Owner did change it. Over the months, mira has realized how grateful she is. No one ever has to say, "Who did you used to be?" There is no mystery or suspicion surrounding the name of mi^ra{TW}. Her stumbles and accomplishments have followed one nick. It is very satisfying. It is your Owner’s decision to allow you to maintain your nick, however, it may be worth begging sweetly for.
Safety: When are you allowed to just say, No!
As an uncollared slave, you are "fresh meat", and you will feel like it soon after your arrival. If you are looking for casual cybersex, there is plenty to be had, but if you are seriously seeking a Gorean Master, you might want to concentrate on training and learning. You also should consider what your eventual Owner is pleased by. Some prefer their girls to be relatively inexperienced online. Having casual cybersex with someone you do not know is very risky, since you do not know the reputations of those you dally with. They might spread the logs around for their own amusement. When you do take a collar, you will be asked about EVERYTHING in your past. There are very few secrets that can be held for long on IRC. Many Gorean channels keep databases of ip addys. True, some Gorean channels and Masters are not concerned about the number of cybersex partners you may have had. Some even relish the idea of extensive sexual experience, and may lend you out to other Freepersons, once you are collared. Consider your own preferences. Choose carefully, and ask respectful questions.
LOG EVERYTHING ALWAYS!
If you do not already know, the online venue is a dangerous medium, and that is especially true for the submissive female. You are NEVER required to give ANYONE any personal or real life information. Always remember, slavery is consensual slavery. So, when you politely refuse private information, do not be manipulated by references to what slaves are allowed or not allowed on "real" Gor. A person with a capped nick can be anything online when you can't see him/her.. a child molester, a stalker, a rapist, a slave masquerading as a Freeperson or someone trying to trick you into saying or doing something that can compromise your life or slavery. Of course, you have heard news reports of r/l meetings which became dangerous or abusive. Remember, many of you have children. The person you invite into your home has access to them. One way to help you make a judgement about the person speaking to you is to check their nick registration. A person with a long-time registered Gorean nick is probably more trustworthy than one that is not registered, or was registered last weekend. Here is what you do. On IRC: On dalnet, /msg nickserv info <nick>. On austnet, /msg nickop info <nick>. On bondage /msg nickserv info <nick>. Be respectful always, but use your head. Just because someone is in a Gorean channel, proclaims himself Gorean and has capped his nick doesn't mean he has the right to ask questions which violate your privacy or safety, nor does he have the right to demand service of you which is at odds with your own morals and principles. Again, be respectful, but if he insists on something which makes you uncomfortable, message an op, or if necessary, turn off your modem and discuss it with the channel ops when you return. There are channels and Freepersons who are unscrupulous and unprincipled. This girl knows of instances where tavern slaves were forced to cyber with patrons, by the Ops in the channel. In one instance, after an entire night of unwilling cybersex, the girl was allowed to leave her keyboard only after she begged to get her children up and ready for school. These caveat's are not designed to frighten you, but they occur more frequently than you may realize. Use your head. Find someone you trust who can guide you.
Kennel Tips
1. Never ping a Freeperson. Pinging is considered, "touching", and touching a Freeperson is forbidden without permission. 2. Do not touch weapons. To do so is a killing offense for a slave. 3. Do not touch money. If money is given to you in channel, take it in your mouth and carry it to an op or founder. 4. Slaves are not allowed to play kaissa or touch the board or game pieces. 5. Never look directly into the eyes of an Freeperson unless directed to do so. Keep your eyes lowered, preferably focused on your thighs, the floor, or his boots. 6. If you are offered a drink from his vessel, avoid the spot his lips have touched. 7. Do not make the mistake of helping yourself to tasty snacks. Slaves are fed, if they are fed at all, by the permission of and sometimes by the hand of a Master.. only. 8. Never, never gossip or whisper about Freepersons. It is entirely disrespectful. You are allowed no opinions about Freepersons. If you do prattle in message, do not be surprised to see the log of the conversation played back in channel by the "discussed" Freeperson. Your loyalty and your sister slave’s loyalty is to Freepersons, not to other slaves. An obedient slave keeps no secrets from Freepersons. Do not assume your whisperings will be kept private. 9. Most true Gorean channels either forbid or discourage discussion of real life events in channel. What's the point of calling it a Gorean channel if the patrons are discussing sports scores, the weather, computer software or their children's runny noses? 10.Generally speaking, it is considered impolite to part your thighs when kneeling before a Free Woman. This is an IRC generality, and of course, would be moot if you are owned by a Mistress or Lady, who would decide what is proper for you.. 11. Some channels punish their girls with "public online whippings" or similar tortures. These are, of course, only vicarious and titillating for the online role players. Obviously, in most cases, these consensual postings are no different than cybersex.. cyberpain for those Goreans who lean more toward the bdsm aspects of the novels. Some girls will tell you that they punish themselves similarly in r/l, mimicking the pain of the online whip. Oh well. Discipline/punishment from an Owner or Freeperson is part of Gor, but online whippings are the least challenging and the least effective method of behavior modification. There are many others, far more effective. A girl, banished from online for several hours or days, while she types up book chapters from Scroll #7 will remember her "discipline" far longer than the one writhing fetchingly on an online pole. 12. Remember to greet "in order" when you enter a Gorean channel. Greet Masters first, then Freewomen. Slaves are always greeted last. The formality of your greeting will vary according to channel tradition, but please.. where in the Gor novels do slaves say, "hiya", huh?
Ko-Lar
Hopefully, you will have the opportunity for a fair amount of training before you decide to beg for a collar. It is enticing and exciting to watch your collared sisters being playful, sitting in their Master’s laps. Naturally, that special relationship is something you long for, what you have worked for. There is a link on the Turia Home Page under Information about Gor. It is called Characteristic’s of Masters. It has proven, over time, to be a logical scale of appraisal. You may not have opinions, but you may size up the One offering you his collar, by comparing him to this document. If you want more than a velcro collar, you will want him to meet at least 75% of these characteristics. Read it thoroughly and think hard about it’s implications. Gor is fortunate to have many fine, honorable Masters. If you seek to bask in the Circle of His Honor, prepare yourself well for that role. Some girls decide to take a "tavern collar" before making a decision about a personal Owner. In this case, the girl is owned by the Founders or Ops of the channel and is basically a waitress (or more). If this seems a reasonable choice for you, ask some questions. Find out exactly what they expect of you. Will there be training? And, please, disregard any Master who says, "Well, sure, I will train you all you need to know", and offers you a collar on the first day you enter his channel. Look for their web page. Try to gauge how serious they are about Gor and commitment to slave’s training and development. Are there classes? Documents to be shared? Will you have a mentor? Are you expected to have cybersex with patrons? With all of the Ops? Do you want to? Many Masters.. many channels will ask to collar you. It can be a very heady experience to be "desired" by so many. Unfortunately, the goal of most is sex, cybersex, phone sex, real life sex and more. Do not be swept away. Since you have a choice, make an informed one.
The Planet Gor
Just as the Scrolls of John Norman portray a savage world, periodically erupting in skirmishes, sieges and outright war between the various city-states, tribes and realms of Counter-Earth, so too, does online Gor suffer militaristic-like eruptions. Unlike those who wear the scarlet in the scrolls, these IRC Goreans war about what is primarily arrogance and self-indulgence. Soon, upon your arrival, you will begin to hear debates and discussions about what is true Gor. Can you be Gorean if you do not "practice" Gorean slavery at home with a real life Master and a real life slave? Are you Gorean if you do not indulge, publically if possible, in the sado-masochistic aspects of the scrolls, replete with nipple clamps, racks and painful bondage? Are you Gorean if you belittle and discourage any who dare offer a differing point of view? Can you call yourself part of a Brotherhood, if the only Brothers are a hand picked clique of thugs who periodically roam the rest of online Gor to disrupt other’s channels? Is a Gorean slave one who wanders at will from channel to channel, misbehaving and whispering vengefully against supposed and imagined rivals? Is it considered Gorean to pick up a few phrases, sit cross-legged in the furs, loudly demand to be served and order uncollared slaves to your lap, har-ta? Is there white ka-la-na? Must Gorean slaves spread their thighs, and describe their vagina to serve properly? Is a Gorean one who strives to uphold the honorable aspects of Gorean Brotherhood, mentoring others who seek the same truths? Does a Gorean strive to build, support, add to and enhance the fantasy world so compellingly described in the sacred scrolls? Are Gorean slaves timid, obedient, sensual, and beautiful? Does a Gorean slave work beside her Master to fulfill whatever task he sets before her, quietly, uncomplainingly.. pleasingly? Is there any Gor left? It is unsettling to hear such talk, but it is a fact in every channel. It ebbs and wanes as the population shifts and new ideas intrude rudely on older philosophies. Slaves do not have opinions. Slaves listen and make choices. Turia and it’s first girl sincerely hope that this document helps you make the correct ones for your slavery. When you are able to say, "La Safora ", there is a first girl in Turia who would very much like to meet you.
***** This article was written by mi^ra who was the first girl of Turia and owned by the one and only Ubar of Turia- Timbrwolf. Even though it was from the old text version of IRC there is no need to change it. It still rings true all these years later. The girls of Turia will always respect and admire our sister and her wise words.
